Prior to purchasing the pressure plate and disc, if a thick grease is noted externally around the assembly, this may need a flywheel. The flywheel is a dual mass, fluid filled unit. Another way to inspect the car for a possibly bad flywheel is; If you look on the engine side of the bell housing and notice any of the 8 rubber "freeze plug style" plugs are missing, the flywheel is more than likely bad.
